About the Conference

The 2016 Diversity Conference brought together healthcare providers, nonprofit professionals, and community members from across rural Oregon to explore equity and inclusion as it relates to healthcare and the social determinants of health.

The event was presented by Oregon Department of Human Services and supported by Four Rivers Healthy Community.


Featured Speakers

Cliff Jones

Senior consultant with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon since 1992. Cliff’s expertise includes civic engagement, cross-cultural effectiveness, and equity advancement. He is co-founder of Tools for Diversity and has a background in community organizing, legal advocacy, and policy analysis.

Maria Elena Castro

Rural and Migrant Health Coordinator at Oregon Health Authority’s Office of Equity and Inclusion. Maria Elena brings fifteen years of healthcare and education experience in nonprofits, including roles as Education Consultant with Oregon Community Health Information Network and Community Outreach Manager for Providence Health Systems.
